Lastly, Canada invited 775 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence on November 10. Find out how eligible you are to get invited too.
Alberta PNP Recent Pool
To start with, Alberta’s October 26 draw results are now public. The latest draw is the sixth one in a row where the cutoff score was 300, which is the minimum needed to be eligible for the Alberta Express Entry Stream. Alberta has now invited 6,158 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination since it resumed invitation rounds in January 2021. This year, Alberta is allowed to issue 6,250 nomination certificates.
British Columbia’s Draw
From these two draws, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) invited candidates from the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams. Invitations were issued to those from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate as well as Entry Level and Semi-Skilled sub-categories of SI and EEBC streams. The majority of invitations went to the 287 candidates who were not invited for their occupation. These candidates received invitations if they met the minimum score requirements between 69 and 94, depending on the program they are eligible for. So far this year, B.C. has issued well over 10,000 invitations through various BC PNP streams. The other draw targeted candidates whose occupation falls under NOC 0621 (retail and wholesale trade managers) or NOC 0631 (restaurant and food service managers). That draw resulted in 53 invitations with minimum scores of 104 across the board.Express Entry’s Selection
Canada has now held five Express Entry draws in a row targeting candidates from the PNP class. All of the invited candidates had previously received nominations through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Since provincial nominees automatically get a 600-point award, the score cut off was 685. Without the nomination, the lowest-scoring candidate would have had just 85 points.Lately, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has only been drawing PNP candidates from the Express Entry pool. November 10’s draw had the second-lowest cut-off score in this category since IRCC started holding PNP-only draws in March 2020. The lowest score requirement for a PNP draw happened in March 2021.
How Provincial Nomination Aids your Express Entry Program
The Express Entry streams are enhanced Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). They allow the provincial government to search the federal government’s Express Entry pool of candidates for profiles of people who may be eligible for a provincial nomination. The draws send invitations to Express Entry candidates to apply for a nomination certificate, which will greatly support their permanent residency application. If you are eligible for Express Entry, you will get a score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). You get points depending on your age, education, work experience, language ability in English or French, and other factors. You can as well increase your CRS scores to be more eligible. The highest-scoring candidates from each sub-category are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination to apply for permanent residency when the province conducts one of its regular draws. If you received an invitation you will have 30 – 60 days from the date of the invitation to submit a complete application through the PNP online system. The nomination is valid for approximately six months from the date of confirmation. It is possible to immigrate through the Express Entry system without a provincial nomination, however, people who have lower CRS scores may opt for a PNP. Provincial nominees automatically get 600 points added to their overall score. Why only PNP Draws?
Since the start of the Covid19 pandemic, IRCC has been focusing on admitting immigrants who are already in the country. When the Canadian government closed the border, it also closed the door to people who were approved for permanent residence from outside Canada. The restrictions that forbid approved permanent residents from making their landings persisted between March 2020 and June 2021. From January 2021 on, IRCC only held Express Entry draws for PNP and CEC candidates. While CEC candidates are most likely to already be in Canada, PNP candidates have demonstrated to a Canadian province or territory that their immigration would bring an economic benefit to the region. For the past five Express Entry draws, IRCC has only invited PNP candidates to apply for permanent residence. If IRCC did not invite these candidates, it would make it impossible for the provinces and territories to meet their immigration goals, which oftentimes complement economic and population growth strategies. In the summer months, IRCC ramped up CEC draws, inviting record-breaking numbers of 6,000 at a time to meet the immigration department’s revised plan to admit 141,000 CEC candidates in 2021. Invitations issued after July would most likely not be processed before the year’s end, according to an internal memo obtained by CIC News through an access to information request.Although not everyone who receives an invitation will get permanent residency, IRCC has already invited more than it needs to meet this goal for the year. Plus, those who are invited in this draw, and the draws for the rest of the year, will likely see their applications processed in the new year.At this point, Immigration Canada is aiming to admit 110,500 Express Entry candidates in 2022, although, that might change when the new immigration targets are announced.
What You Can Do Now
In every way, I am emphasizing to you in this article, that the best time to start your application for permanent residency and move to Canada is now if not yesterday.
