The Messiah of IRCC
As you already may know, our indefatigable Minister of Immigration Canada – Sean Fraser has been making sure to keep no stone unturned to favor us all so that we can make our way to Canada as soon as very possible. Likewise, it is no more news that the ministry is expending millions of dollars on the current backlog of applications to make sure that they are gone forever so that we can usher in a new set of willing and capable immigrants to Canada.
The Attended Online Event
At a Virtual Conference – the 2nd Annual Educate The World that the Minister was attending online, he made some positive statements which are quite appealing to the ears about Express Entry draws especially the Federal Skilled Worker Program. The Minister was a keynote speaker in this conference which was hosted through ‘ApplyBoard’ and this made him have the opportunity to shed more lights on the grey areas that people had in their minds about the Canadian Immigration process and what exactly their futures look like as regards the next call of action of the IRCC to applicants’ desires.The Rampant Queries
Now, he was asked series of questions in relation to the FSWP among other immigration programs and temporary residency pathways to Canada. As you might have guessed, most of these questions are the same for the Minister anytime he is speaking on an outdoor or online event due to his position or office. Thus, these questions were tabled like these;

When can we expect draws from the EE pool?
What can you tell us about the permanent residency pathway?
Since he had to respond as usual, he gave not a conclusive feedback but as I would call it a valid hint to his expectation of how the situation may finally play out if or once his newly recruited workers and expended funds all put efforts to work on the presumed eventualities. Hence, we all should watch out and pray for his statement to become binding on the laws of nature or God if you so believe.
His Hopes for Spring 2022
In his response, Fraser said;
“I am not making any big official announcements here and I can’t give you an exact date” but he did actually specifically say that he was looking to hoping to do a Federal Skilled Worker Express Entry draw this term in the spring. So his response was good but it was non-committal!Let’s take a pause there for a moment and reflect! As you may have already “googled” it if you are as proactive as I am, the spring months have started right from about Sunday, March 20th 2022. So, we can start wishing ourselves, ‘Welcome to spring, Canada! Your next three months of weather, here’. Also, if you are to go by the term of the year talked about by the Minister, that would be mostly the second quarter of the year 2022 which is none but April – May 2022. And summer is going to be hitting in June, so hopefully that means within now and June, we are going to be seeing a draw for federal skilled workers in the Express Entry pool.Other EE Programs
Sean Fraser didn’t say anything specifically about Canadian Experience Class but our hopes as well is that he gets to draw a pool which would state ‘No Program Specified’ draw so that applicants from all programs under the Express Entry – Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class Program; all get selected as well.
Post Graduate Work Permit Good News
Fraser didn’t stop at talking about the Federal Skilled Worker Program; he went on to tell us more about foreign students, since the conference he was attending was aimed around international students. So, he answered a question about Post-Graduate Work Permit Program (PGWP). Obviously, there are a lot of students on that Post-Graduate Work Permit pool that are waiting for Express Entry draws to happen so that they can get their permanent residency applications started, approved and move finally to Canada.More Details from his Speech
He did note that he does not want to lose any of these vibrant student workers who already have jobs here in Canada and want to keep working and contributing to the economy. So, he did say that he is looking at hoping to come up with extension for those PGWP permits even though he didn’t give any information about when we can see this announced or how long these extensions might be or even the kinds of conditions that will come with this window of flexibility. He just said that he is looking at it for the moment and he really wants to find a way to keep people working here in the labour market.

Finally, hopefully, we could be seeing a FSWP draw and extension to PGWP permits this term or in the spring. Once we have any further details or official announcement or official draw, we will notify all our readers but till date the express Entry draws have just been for provincial nominees, so we will all be waiting for that FSWP draw since December 2020.
