The Real Truth
Moreso, I emphasize the facts more and more that immigration or study abroad are not pathways to greener pastures for the poor. Although, there are some narrow escapes such as scholarships and work permit or visa opportunities along with moving or schooling overseas through which you still need to spend some few dollars or naira to process as well. And, if you have a guarantor or sponsor to vouch for you and help with the cumbersome expenses, you can just be as well lucky. If not, you better just apply for work visa or seek asylum and expect to get luck shine on your application. In all, nothing is FREE.
My Own Advice
Don’t get scammed by fraudsters telling you that you can migrate or do anything abroad freely, you need to pay for something(s) no matter how little. Parts of these things are language tests like IELTS, TOEFL, TEF/ TCF Canada even DELF-DALF among others. You might be also lucky however that some of the schools you want to apply to do not require any of the tests; yet you would need to show your language proficiency in another way by taking their own university exams which still might cost money or sending your past credentials abroad which in turn needs money to process and send to them.The Way Out
The faster you turn to preparing and taking any or some of these tests, the sooner you get your immigration or study desires granted! And now, with a little more than the usual fees for the most of the years 2020 and 2021, they have been increased them in order to further show you the importance of taking quick decisions when it comes to your processing to English or French speaking countries like the United Kingdom, Unites States of America, Australia, Canada of course, France among others.
My Predictions
Around December 2020, I was saying online that IELTS may increase their price from ₦75,000 – ₦79,000 or ₦81,000 but candidates thought I was just giving an alibi for them to enroll for our preparatory classes. It happened then that it was raised with ₦4,000. Now, the British Council has deemed it fit to increase it again with the same ₦4,000. How long do you think that it will take before they increase it again with another ₦4,000 or more? Well, based on how far I have followed the trend since 2018, it was just ₦68,000 around that period and for close to 4 years from that time, it has increased thrice. I predict again now that it would increase again at the tail end of next year with ₦4,000 making it ₦87,000 then.The Worst to Come
I am even of the view that, not only the price will increase but the cut-off to Canada Immigration for instance since the competition in the Express Entry pool is becoming much fiercer than ever. In fact, schools abroad as well will want to get only the best students in their institutions; as a result, they will not permit less than 7.5 or B2 candidates any longer like some of them have started doing. You may have to take the test more than once if you don’t take it serious the first time to get such test scores on your result.

As from 2022, British Council will be allowing candidates to take their IELTS test at home. What does this mean for you and other candidates? Well, it is one huge advancement that allows you to feel at ease in your own conveniences while taking the test. This may improve the psychological state of being of the candidates which in turn influences positively the test result you get out of taking the test.
