The more I get to relate with international students and immigrants especially from Africa and Asia, the more I see them fall this flaw. Worse still, many do not know about it until they face ban from countries like Canada or even visa refusals from the UK.
Simple but Crucial Matter
The issue is so trivial that they forget to focus on it. Early this year, someone very close to me got his admission in the University of Regina at Saskatchewan Canada, he started his visa application with an agent in Lagos and after two paid trials, he still got rejections twice due to this little error.
The Way Out
Actually, his own case was faulted on a crucial ground of trust. If a foreign student fails to show that he or she would leave Canada as soon as the admitted program ends, it may be difficult to get that visa. One thing to take note of is that Canada will always give reasons why the visa was rejected most times, and this requires the agent or applicant to study well the reasons and come up with more counter conditions to tackle the rejection issues in the next application.Money Lost

Even though, this mistake is little, it may lead to refusal of any type of visa and loss of money more than once. This particular student was wasting money ($3,000+ – ₦1,500,000+), going to microfinance banks to get more monies in his bank account to show that he has enough funds to cater for his admission abroad and upkeep when that was not actually what the visa officers wanted to see.
Visa Refusal Issue
Based on the refusal note, the officer stated that; “I am refusing your application on the following grounds:• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.”The trick to this statement is that even though they refer to your assets and finances, you should not focus mainly on just that area of influence.Click here to RSVP for the JAPA to Canada in 2023 webinar right now!Deep Thoughts
It requires you to look into your application and give answers to other areas that relate to the reason why the visa officer rejected you in the first place. Ask yourself these questions when reviewing your first application?- How can you convince the officer that you would leave Canada after your education?- What do you have back at your home country that necessitates you to travel down after studies?- Then, which other documents can you add to show your assets in your home country?- Afterwards, how much finance do you have at present for your studies in Canada?- Lastly, do you really need to add to the amount you declared already in your application?
The Bright Side
The visa officer said in the rejection letter that; “You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.”This is like a bait to get you to reapply but I do advise applicants not to get to this level before they have a rethink. Though, it is not a bad comment and even encouraging to many students but why don’t you even do what is expected in the first place and get that visa once and for all?Event Benefits
