Do you really know who is even writing this article? Well, I am one of the new writers that just joined the team of A.O.S bloggers. My name is Lateefah Morenikeji Gbadebo (a.k.a Young Barr. Teepha). I am a law erudite from the department of Common and Islamic Law from the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin. Immigration Law in Canada
Back to our subject matter, immigration Law in Canada, refers to the body of rules and regulations guiding those who can enter into Canada, those who can stay back and reside in Canada, and also what they can do during their stay or migration. It also refers to the processes involved in the legal entry to Canada. The source of Law that outline these rules and regulations explicitly is referred to as the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, even though there are other sources that governed these rules, this seems to the be the only recognized Act that explicitly talks about the rules. Immigration to Canada seem to be the new wave as people can be obviously seen trooping out of their respective countries to seek for greener pastures in Canada which seem to have better opportunities in stock for people.
Immigration and Refugee Board
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act is made up of a board which is referred to as the Immigration and Refugee Board which is made up of the Refugee Protection Division, Immigration Division and Immigration Appeal Commission. This act became enforceable on the 28th of June 2002, and its main objective is to explicitly explain the goals and template the Canadian government has put in place as far as Immigration to Canada by non-citizens / foreigners is concerned. This Act would also be in charge of questioning Government’s lapses on refusing to implement a legislation in the act which relates to Canada Immigration.Acts Amendments
However, since the enactment of the Immigration and Refugee Act, it has also been subjected to few amendments. One of the key amendment the act is that of that of the regulations amending the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations which set the average time for refugee protection claims at the Refugee Protection Division. The most important factor to studying in Canada is choosing a program; you must be able to present a strong reason for wanting to study in Canada. This would provide a strong chance of submitting a successful application
Apply To a Recognized Institution
After choosing a program, the next thing is to prepare and submit your application and receive “A Letter of Acceptance” from a recognized Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in order to be able to get a study permit.
Apply for a Study Permit
After a successful application which includes a letter of application at hand, you are automatically ready to apply for a study permit. Application and processing of a study permit also varies according to different countries, some countries take nothing less than a week or two while others take as long as 16 weeks as the case may be.
Conditions for Study Permit
In order to be able to study successfully in Canada or in order to be granted a study permit to Canada, there are some terms and conditions that need to be adhered to strictly get admitted for a hitch free course of study and stay in Canada. These include;
One must have been successfully admitted into a recognized Designated Learning Institution.
Also, one must be admitted either as a full time student or a part time student.
Any authorized leave during the course of study will not be tolerated.
